Welcome to Bhutan! Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, our representative will greet you and escort you to Thimphu, Bhutan’s charming capital, located about two hours away.
After checking into your hotel and freshening up, begin your sightseeing with a visit to the Memorial Chorten, built in 1972 in honor of Bhutan’s head of state. Resembling a traditional Tibetan stupa, the monument features exquisite carvings and intricate details.
Continue to Kuensel Phodrang, home to the massive Shakyamuni Buddha statue, a 51-meter-tall gold-plated bronze figure built in 2015 to commemorate the fourth king’s birthday. The interior enshrines around 100,000 smaller Buddha icons.
After sightseeing, return to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure - explore local markets or enjoy a relaxing stroll. Overnight in Thimphu.
Day 02: Thimphu Sightseeing
After breakfast, set out to discover more of Thimphu’s highlights. Begin at the Motithang Takin Preserve, dedicated to protecting Bhutan’s unique national animal, the takin, which roams freely in the 8.4-acre reserve.
Next, journey to the stunning Dochula Pass (3,100 m), where panoramic views of the snow-clad Himalayas await. The pass also features a rhododendron garden, 108 memorial chortens, and a monastery.
Continue your sightseeing with visits to the iconic Buddha Dordenma Statue, the grand Tashichho Dzong, and the serene Memorial Chorten built in memory of King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck.
Return to your hotel for an overnight stay in Thimphu.

Enjoy breakfast and then head out to explore more of Thimphu. Visit the Gagyel Lhundrup Weaving Centre, renowned for producing ceremonial fabrics for the Bhutanese royal family and a great place to shop for souvenirs.
Then explore the National Museum, originally built in 1649 as a watchtower, now housing thousands of artifacts including ancient paintings and bronze statues. Continue to Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples, dating back to the 7th century.
